BetMGM is the newest online sports betting site in Ontario to lock in an official partnership with the National Football League (NFL). The two announced a multi-year deal recently which will name BetMGM as an ‘Official Sportsbook Partner’ in Canada. This will be the NFL’s third partnership with an Ontario-based sportsbooks, following deals with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. and FanDuel Sportsbook.
By becoming an Official Sportsbook Partner BetMGM now has the rights to use official NFL marks in Canada and advertise on NFL-operated digital platforms in the region. Additionally, BetMGM Ontario will also be able to offer Canadian customers access to exclusive NFL experiences. The news about the BetMGM partnership with the NFL in Canada arrives just a few weeks before the start of the NFL season on September 8, 2022.
The NFL has been one of the most popular sports leagues wagered on in Ontario since legalization, only topped by the NBA and NHL. While it seemed that BetMGM’s initial marketing strategy in Ontario was focused on hockey, the company has now taken a more diverse approach, focusing on both the NFL and NBA which have huge fan bases in the country. With the help of the partnership, BetMGM will be looking to gain access to future activations in the country and build on its pre-existing relationship with the NFL.
BetMGM has a number of other big collaborations with top leagues and players from other sports. For example, the sportsbook has partnered with Canadian hockey icons, Wayne Gretzky and Connor McDavid. Wayne Gretzky has been appointed as brand ambassador for BetMGM in Canada, becoming a focal point for the sportsbooks’ marketing campaigns in both Canada and America.
